How do you make something great even greater? In the case of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s Great Elk Tour, you give it a facelift. RMEF’s home-away-from-home now has a new home.

“We got a new trailer because the old one was getting worn out and we needed a new look,” said Dave Meehan, Great Elk Tour manager.

At 50 feet in length, the new trailer is longer than ever before. It’s also taller, bigger and better. The bottom line is the new set-up will make it easier for the public to better experience and enjoy everything the tour has to offer.
The Great Elk Tour was originally established in 1994 but RMEF took over as its sole organizer just before 2000. It travels approximately 65,000 miles every year from one end of America to the other and features six of the biggest bull elk taken only from wild, free-ranging herds. The traveling display provides the opportunity for hundreds of thousands of outdoor lovers to learn about one of North America’s most majestic animals as well as the habitat it needs to both survive and thrive. The tour also shows how RMEF seeks to carry out its mission of ensuring the future of elk, other wildlife, their habitat and our hunting heritage.
Not only does the Great Elk Tour have a new look on the outside but on the inside as well. Six new bull mounts will highlight a brand new, rustic interior set to debut at Elk Camp, RMEF’s national convention, this December in Las Vegas.
“I want this to be an unbelievable show stopper. Something people can't wait to see,” said Meehan. “It takes something like this to slow people down so we can spread our message. Six 400-class bull elk seem to get it done.”
